It always starts small.

Everything starts out small.

A person starts as an egg.

A storm starts with a raindrop.

A creation starts with an idea.

A life starts with desire.

An argument starts with a thought.

A tree starts from a seed.

A raging fire starts from a spark.

Love starts from a spark.

My love- our love- starts with a spark.

Just a simple brush of the hands.

Just a quick glance into the eyes.

Just a small smile with the lips.

And then the brush of hands turns into intertwining fingers as you're falling over the edge of ecstasy. Then the glance into eyes turns into staring into the swirling golden eyes of an untamed dragon who is begging for love. Then smile with the lips turn into lips being locked onto one another as they explore the body.

The spark turns into a wildfire.

Our timid crush turned into a fire that built and built until it exploded and neither one of us could control it or ourselves. We lost ourselves to the inferno of our love- our desire. It was too much for either of us. We didn't understand it and it scared us.

I needed space.

He needed to run.

We had to be alone.

So we did.

I settled for a dear friend of mine, Aang. The golden eyed boy tried his sister's friend, Mai. We were happy, content with who we were with. Aang treated me right. Mai did what she could. Aang never set me on fire. Mai never burned the prince up. We were safe.

But something was missing.

It felt like I was suffocating. Like Aang was whirling wind around me so fast that he was sucking the oxygen from my fire.

The dragon felt as though Mai were putting him out. Stamping on his flame, slowly killing him.

We missed each other.

We needed each other.

So I broke it off with Aang.

He broke it off with Mai.

But we still didn't go back to each other. We were still scared. Still unsure of what would happen.

So years passed and I bumped into him in the square. We stood in awkward silence. The off timed glances starting again, the soft touches with our hands and the shy smiles were back. But then we looked into each other's eyes. Really looked.

And I fell.

I knew why I didn't want Aang.

He knew why he didn't want Mai.

We knew we wanted each other.

So we had each other.

We tumbled into his bed; staying there all night until the sun rose again. The fire that was between us had never left. And we vowed to never leave again.
